Mini Lush Haul

by Claudia

Happy Thursday!

If you’ve been following me for a while now, you know I love Lush. I mean, who doesn’t? I have been obsessed with the ‘I Love Juicy’ shampoo from them for years, which is a super clarifying shampoo for oily hair. My skin and hair are both definitely on the oily side, and I loved that this shampoo kept my roots clean! I’ve been noticing over the past few months though that ‘I Love Juicy’ has been doing more harm than good. I think it’s actually started to make my scalp over compensate since it’s cleaning it so well. I think my scalp produces more oil faster, which makes my hair look greasy like… the next day. So I went into Lush a few days ago and told the super helpful sales girl about this little dilemma of mine. She recommended two different shampoos to me that I’ve now tested and wanted to share with you!

‘Rehab’ was the first shampoo she recommended, since it’s meant to help repair damaged hair. I don’t have too much damage from heat, bleach or dye (which is what this shampoo helps with) but I’ll take all the help I can get! Basically this shampoo repairs your hair by using nutritious, natural ingredients like fresh fruit juices and herbs to help clarify and restore scalp damage. She told me that this one should help re-balance my hair, and help add moisture back into my scalp so it doesn’t have to over produce natural oil. I love the way it smells, it’s fruity and minty which I’m very about. It smells sweet and clean which in my mind is never a bad combo! This scent also doesn’t linger in my hair after the shower (which I like!) unlike the other shampoo I picked up. ‘Rehab’ is not as thick as ‘I Love Juicy’ so I do find myself having to use a bit more since it has a thinner constancy and I like to really lather my shampoo. Overall I’m really impressed with ‘Rehab’ and I think it will become a new staple in my hair care routine!

The other shampoo she recommended was ‘Daddy-O’. This purple shampoo is formulated specifically for blonds to help with brassiness but brunettes can also use it… as it says on the bottle haha! She recommended this shampoo because it’s a gentler formula. ‘Daddy-O’ also has natural ingredients like fresh citrus juices and seeweed to keep your hair soft and shiny (who doesn’t want that) while violet leaf, rose and bergamot oils create a scent that stays on your hair throughout the day. This is one part about this shampoo that I don’t like. I’m not a huge rose or bergamot scent fan, so I didn’t like the strong scent that stayed in my hair after the shower. And it stayed until I washed my hair again which was 2 days later. (I showered my body in between, don’t worry!) This shampoo was even thinner than ‘Rehab’ so again I found myself having to use even more product for my long locks.

I also don’t like that the purple color stains my hands! I got out of the shower and my hands had a dull purple tint to them, and since my skin is so light and stains easily (I know from swatching so much #MakeupAddictProbs) it stayed for about a day after, even with lots of hand washing with soap (duh). Since I’m not blond and never have been, I don’t have much experience with purple shampoo so I’m not sure if this is a common problem or not, but I wasn’t too pleased about having purple hands haha.

Since I’m not using this shampoo for it’s true purpose: keeping blond’s blond with the purple color and I really hate the scent it leaves behind, I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this guy again. But if you’re blond and you don’t mind a floral scent left behind in your hair, this might be perfect for you!

I picked up another small tub (120g) of the Ocean Salt because it’s one of my all time favorite body and face scrubs and I haven’t had it in my shower for a while! I love that it has bigger salt granules in it to really scrub some tougher parts of your body like feet and elbows. The sea salt also helps to scrub away dirt, dead skin and blockages for bright and fresh looking (and feeling!) skin. I also like to use it once a week on my face to really exfoliate and get the dead skin cells off. I also love the way this smells like lime and coconut, it’s very tropical and makes you feel like you’re on a beach! It also has avocado and coconut in it to help hydrate your skin, balance it and leave it feeling soft. The lime and vodka (it’s a party!) help with blocked pores, blackheads and blemishes to leave skin clear and bright. I love this scrub for all over my body and highly recommend it!

The sales girl did tell me that it will take a few weeks (or a full bottle) to get my strands happy and healthy again… basically getting my hair back to “neutral”. Hopefully this blog post will help you out if you have some hair care needs like I do, or if you’re just looking for something new next time you’re at Lush! If you have any favorite restorative shampoos, please let me know in the comments or tweet me @ClaudiaaNorris!
